Who is Pre-School for?
- Any child aged 6 months - 5 Years old
- Any parent/carer needing childcare regularly or for individual sessions
- Children wanting to access 2, 3 and 4 year old funded childcare places. (FEL)
- After School Care/Holiday Care
How will my child benefit?
Rated as “Good” with Outstanding features by Ofsted. Our experienced staff deliver the same Early Years curriculum as school nurseries and private settings. This means we use the Early Years Foundation Stage
Guidance when planning and assessing your children. Children's learning journeys are available for parents to see at any time. We feel it is important to prioritise children's personal ,social and emotional development which ensures they are ready to become lifelong learners. Our caring ethos allows positive interactions, encourages independence and ensures our children become skillful communicators.
When is the Pre-School Open?
Monday - Friday 7-00m - 6pm 50 weeks per year. We offer all year round or term time contracts
Can the Pre-School care for my child who has additional needs?
Pre-School staff make every effort to meet any additional requirements your child may have.We work closely with the Inclusion Service. Please discuss your child’s needs with the Pre-School Manager or key worker at enrolment
What should my child wear for Pre-School?
The children are encouraged to be creative and play with sand, water, paint, etc so please ensure they wear suitable clothing that is easily managed. They will also need a coat for outdoor play and appropriate clothing for weather conditions. It is a good idea to bring a spare set of clothes to keep in your child’s bag.
How much will it cost?
A child has to attend for a minimum of 1 session . A session runs for 3 hours and 45 minutes: (9.00-12.45 or 12.45 - 4.30) Sessions cost

2 - 3 Years - £17
3 Years + - £16
Additional hours are available at a cost of
Under 2's - £4.50 per hour
2 - 3 Years - £4.25 per hour
3 Years + - £4.00 per hour

Can I stay with my child?
We encourage parents to visit the Pre-School with their child prior to starting and stay with them on the first session. Most children soon settle in and are happy to be left to enjoy the experience.

How is the Pre-School monitored?
Our setting is monitored by Ofsted.As a member of the PLA (Pre-School Learning Alliance) and SCCN (Sheffield Community Childcare Network) the Pre-School is committed to providing the highest standards of care and learning for your child. All our staff are CRB checked.

We have a national consultant linked to the setting and we specialise in child centred learning .We keep parents up to date with their child’s progress and welcome parental feedback. We work to ensure we are tuned into children’s specific interests and patterns of play ( schematic learning) . Our programme “Parents are Experts “ recognises the valuable role parents play in their children’s development, our planning reflects this and is available for parents to see.
Breakfast/After School Club
We have a Breakfast Club for children up to 8 years old. It is open from 7am, Mon-Fri and costs £5 per session. After School Club is for children up to 8 years old. It is open until 6pm Mon-Fri and costs £5 per hour.
Please Note: We only pick up and drop off at Woodthorpe Primary School.
Is there anything else I need to know?
You will be asked to sign a contract and if your child does not attend the chosen sessions, you will still have to pay for the session. Hospital admission are exempt from this rule upon proof of admission.
The Pre-School has procedures to deal with Child Protection issues. You will be made aware of these when you register your child with the Pre-School.
