Woodthorpe Children Centres Policies

Preparing Healthy Snacks

Updated 13 Oct 2020

A good diet is essential for good health.  At Sunshine Pre-School within Woodthorpe Children’s Centre we promote health and healthy eating. We consider the hygienic preparation and storage of food and will comply with all relevant legislation.

The setting will ensure that any food offered to the children is fresh and nutritionally balanced.

Baking sessions will be offered as part of the curriculum.  We will talk about different foods, including their source and origin. We will encourage children to experience a wide range of tastes both familiar and unusual to them and ensure parents/ carers receive feedback on these new experiences.

Foods that reflect cultural diversity will be included within the setting and staff will respect dietary preferences expressed by parents.
