Aims and Objectives

The aim of this policy is to ensure that if you are involved with children’s activities you:

  • understand your personal responsibility for protecting the children with whom you work
  • are able to take appropriate action if there is any suggestion that a child is at risk
  • know what to do and can respond appropriately to any child who alleges or discloses that abuse is happening
  • take steps to minimise opportunities for misunderstandings

Basic Principles

A child’s safety and welfare are our first concern.

All children whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, racial origin, orientation, language and or religious belief have the right to be safe and protected from significant harm or abuse of any kind.

  • Any allegations and suspicions of abuse will always be taken seriously and acted upon quickly.
  • All children are entitled to be cared for in a healthy, safe environment without harm being caused to or inflicted upon them.
