Aims and Objectives

The aim of this policy is to ensure that if you are involved with vulnerable adults you:

  • understand your personal responsibility for protecting the vulnerable adults with whom you work
  • are able to take appropriate action if there is any suggestion that a vulnerable person is being abused
  • know what to do and can respond positively to any vulnerable adult who alleges or discloses that abuse is happening
  • take steps to minimise opportunities for misunderstandings

Basic Principles

A vulnerable person’s safety and welfare is our first concern.

All vulnerable adults whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, racial origin, language and or religious belief have the right to be safe and protected from abuse of any kind.

  • Any allegations and suspicions of abuse will always be taken seriously and acted upon quickly.
  • All vulnerable adults are entitled to experience a healthy, safe environment without intentional harm being caused to or inflicted on them.
